At the core of BREDA, we stand for timeless self-expression—to tell stories of passionate creators. We have worked with a dossier of creative individuals with unique perspective for our Fall 2019 campaign, LOCALE. This concept discusses places that hold special memories and have significant meaning to personal history.

An interview with Kathryn Zahorak on growth, the idea of home and the personal relationships shared between time and place.

My name is: Kathryn Zahorak

My hometown is: I was born in Chicago, Illinois. But raised in Pleasant Hill, California (It's in the San Francisco Bay Area).

I currently live in: Los Angeles, California

My favorite thing about my hometown: My family. I love taking a break from LA, and driving up the 5 North to see my parents + brother. I get to slow down, and take stock in the things that matter most to me.

I feel the influence of my hometown most when: An aspect of my style was definitely influenced by being raised in the Bay Area. I love vintage levis, boyfriend tees, and classic sneakers. My tom-boy side grew from my laid back upbringing. I was always outside: hiking the hills behind my house. or shooting photos in Berkeley.

Homebody or social butterfly: Social butterfly. I feel closer to myself when I am traveling.

My rituals at home are: Morning coffee, journaling, and taking my dog for a walk along Echo Park lake.

‘Home’ to me means: Home has never been a place for me. It's a feeling. I could be thousands of miles away from LA, but still feel 'at home'. Whenever I feel close to myself, or someone I love, that feels like home.
